01
You are the host
You, not Common Hours, organize and operate your dinner. You are responsible for your listing, location, food, guest decisions, conduct, and compliance with law.
Provide accurate information and promptly update material changes to the date, time, address, arrival instructions, food, or other details guests reasonably rely on.
02
Location and capacity
You must have the legal right and permission to host at the location you provide. Follow applicable occupancy restrictions, lease and building rules, fire codes, noise rules, and other location requirements.
Do not use another person’s address without permission or accept more guests than the location can reasonably and safely accommodate.
03
Guest requests
You may approve or decline seat requests, subject to applicable law. Use names and guest-question answers only to organize and operate the dinner. Do not use them for unrelated marketing, harassment, discrimination prohibited by law, or disclosure outside the dinner.
If you ask guests about a contribution or other direct arrangement, clearly disclose it before they submit a seat request.
04
Food and dietary information
You are responsible for food you prepare or serve and agree to use reasonable food-handling and sanitation practices. Do not knowingly misrepresent ingredients or dietary accommodations.
If you agree to accommodate a dietary restriction, make a reasonable effort to do so. Do not describe food as medically safe or allergen-free unless that statement is truthful and supportable.
05
Give Back collections
You may optionally invite guests to bring food items for an organization you select. Clearly identify the intended recipient and the items being collected. Guest contributions must remain optional and must not be a condition of approving a seat request.
You may decline donated items, including items that are opened, expired, unsafe, or do not meet the organization’s requirements. Once you accept items, you are responsible for storing and handling them safely and delivering them to the organization identified for the dinner, following its donation and drop-off guidelines. You may not keep accepted items for personal use, sell them, or redirect them to another recipient.
Check the organization’s current donation requirements and delivery arrangements before collecting items. Common Hours provides the collection tools; you are responsible for collection and delivery under these responsibilities and the Terms of Service.
06
Alcohol
- Comply with all applicable alcohol laws.
- Do not serve minors or unlawfully sell alcohol.
- Do not knowingly continue serving someone who appears dangerously intoxicated.
- Encourage guests to use safe transportation.
07
Tickets and payments
Paid dinners require approval from Common Hours and an active connected Stripe account. You are the seller of the ticket. Stripe processes payments directly on your account and manages payouts. Common Hours charges a 2% application fee on successful ticket payments; Stripe’s processing fees also come from your proceeds.
Approved guests are charged the day before dinner, at the cancellation deadline shown on their RSVP. Guests approved after that deadline are charged immediately. Guests can cancel before the displayed date and time at no cost for a full refund. A payment that cannot be completed releases the guest’s seat.
Canceling a dinner or removing a paid guest authorizes Common Hours to initiate a full refund on your behalf, including its application fee. You must fund refunds and resolve pending or failed refunds through Stripe. Stripe’s original processing fees are not returned. Guests who cancel after their cancellation deadline do not receive an automatic refund, but you can issue one in Stripe.
Ticket settings, including whether the dinner is ticketed and the price per guest, cannot be changed after publishing. To change them, cancel the dinner and create a new one. After the first ticket payment, the date/time and location are also locked. Changing those details requires canceling and refunding the dinner, then creating a new one.
You are responsible for disclosing requested amounts before a seat request, handling disagreements or refunds, and complying with applicable tax, food-service, alcohol, licensing, permit, and consumer-protection requirements. You may not impose surprise or misleading charges.
08
Safety and conduct
Take reasonable steps to provide a safe environment. Do not knowingly create or permit dangerous conditions, harassment, violence, sexual misconduct, illegal drug activity, or other unlawful behavior.
If there is an immediate threat, prioritize safety and contact emergency services. Common Hours does not guarantee that a guest will attend, behave appropriately, reimburse expenses, or meet your expectations.
09
Privacy, photos, and private details
Treat guest information and private residential details responsibly. Do not publicly disclose a guest’s personal information or another person’s address.
Be considerate before photographing or recording guests. Respect requests not to be photographed or recorded, and obtain appropriate permission before uploading or using identifiable photographs for promotion. If you upload content, the content license in the Terms of Service applies.
10
Changes and cancellations
Update material details promptly. If you cannot host, cancel the dinner through Common Hours as soon as reasonably possible so accepted and pending guests can be notified.
You are responsible for consequences arising from your conduct, negligence, violation of law, or failure to comply with this Agreement. To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify Common Hours for claims arising from the dinner you organize.
11
Common Hours actions and contact
Common Hours may remove or cancel a dinner, restrict hosting privileges, or suspend an account when we reasonably believe a host or dinner creates a safety, fraud, legal, or policy concern.
This Agreement is incorporated into the Terms of Service. Questions or safety concerns may be sent to hello@commonhrs.com. For emergencies, contact local emergency services.
