01
The host and Stripe
The host is the seller of the ticket and is responsible for the dinner. Common Hours provides the RSVP and payment tools. Stripe processes payments on the host’s connected account and manages payouts to the host.
Hosts need approval from Common Hours and a connected Stripe account enabled to accept payments and receive payouts before selling tickets. Hosts must keep their Stripe information current and meet Stripe’s requirements. Losing payment eligibility does not remove obligations for existing payments or refunds.
02
Requesting a seat
Every RSVP requires host approval. Sending an RSVP does not guarantee a seat. For a ticketed dinner, you must complete the payment step before your request is sent to the host. No ticket payment is taken when you submit your RSVP.
By continuing with a paid RSVP, you authorize the host to charge your payment method for the displayed price if your RSVP is approved, and authorize Common Hours to arrange that payment on the host’s behalf. You do not need to return to confirm the charge. This authorization applies to that ticket.
03
When payment happens
If the host approves your RSVP before the cancellation deadline, payment is scheduled for the displayed date and time, normally the day before dinner. The deadline is shown in the dinner’s local time zone. Payment may take time to finish processing.
If the host approves you after payment has begun for that dinner, you are charged immediately upon approval. This also applies to same-day dinners. A pending or declined RSVP is not charged.
Cancel before the date and time shown on your RSVP at no cost for a full refund. Once payment has begun, canceling does not stop the charge or automatically refund your ticket. See the Refund Policy for cancellation rules, including requests still awaiting approval.
04
Prices and fees
Ticket prices are displayed per guest in U.S. dollars (USD). The price shown when you RSVP is the amount you authorize. Hosts must disclose the price before you request a seat and may not impose surprise or misleading charges.
Common Hours’ standard commission is 2% of successful ticket payments. We may waive or reduce this fee. The Common Hours fee comes from the host’s proceeds, rather than being added to the displayed ticket price. Stripe’s processing fees are separate and also come from the host’s proceeds.
Hosts are responsible for applicable taxes, their Stripe account, payouts, disputes, and the costs of providing the dinner.
05
If payment cannot be completed
An approved seat at a ticketed dinner is subject to successful payment. If payment fails, your seat is released and we email you. Declined cards are not automatically retried.
A payment still being processed is not a confirmed failure or a completed refund. Check your RSVP and payment emails for the result. Contact hello@commonhrs.com if you need help with a payment status.
06
Host changes and refunds
Whether a dinner is ticketed and its price per guest cannot be changed after the dinner is first published. For a ticketed dinner, the date is also locked at publication. To change these settings, cancel the dinner and create a new one. After the first ticket payment, or while payment is being processed, the time and location are also locked.
Canceling a dinner or removing a paid guest authorizes Common Hours to initiate a full ticket refund on the host’s behalf, including any Common Hours fee. Hosts must provide the funds needed for refunds and resolve pending or failed refunds through Stripe. Stripe’s original processing fees remain the host’s responsibility.
Other refund requests are handled by the host through Stripe, as explained in the Refund Policy. A refund made in Stripe does not by itself cancel a guest’s RSVP; attendance must be updated separately in Common Hours.
