Refund Policy

Every RSVP needs host approval. For a ticketed dinner, cancel before the date and time shown on your RSVP at no cost for a full refund. This policy explains RSVP cancellations, later refund requests, and what happens if a host cancels.

01

Your RSVP and host approval

Sending an RSVP asks the host for a seat. It does not guarantee one. The host must approve your request, and a ticketed seat is subject to successful payment. Free dinners do not have a ticket charge.

You can cancel a request that is still awaiting host approval at no cost, even if the displayed cancellation deadline has passed. If the host declines your request before payment, you are not charged.

02

Canceling before the deadline

Cancel before the date and time shown on your RSVP at no cost for a full refund. Use the cancellation option on your dinner’s RSVP in Common Hours so your cancellation is recorded.

The deadline is shown in the dinner’s local time zone, normally the day before dinner. Before payment begins, canceling prevents the ticket charge, so there is no payment to return.

03

Late cancellations and missed dinners

Once payment has begun, canceling gives up your seat but does not stop the charge or automatically refund your ticket. If you are approved after payment has begun for the dinner, you are charged immediately upon approval.

Canceling after the deadline or not attending does not automatically entitle you to a refund. You can ask the host for a refund; the host handles these requests through Stripe, subject to any rights you have under applicable law.

04

If the host cancels or removes you

If the host cancels the dinner or removes you from the guest list, future ticket charges are stopped. If you have already paid, Common Hours initiates a full refund on the host’s behalf. If your payment is already processing and completes, a full refund is initiated after it succeeds.

The full refund includes any Common Hours fee; no Stripe processing fee is deducted from your refund. If the dinner is canceled, this also applies to paid tickets belonging to guests who previously canceled their RSVPs.

05

Receiving a refund

Refunds are processed through Stripe and returned to the original payment method. A refund request is not the same as a completed refund. Your bank or card issuer may need additional time to show the money in your account.

We email you about refund updates. A refund may remain pending if the host’s Stripe account does not have sufficient funds, or fail if it cannot be processed. The host is responsible for funding the refund and resolving the problem through Stripe. Contact hello@commonhrs.com if your refund needs attention.

A refund issued directly by the host through Stripe does not automatically cancel your RSVP. If you will not attend, cancel your RSVP in Common Hours as well.

06

Host responsibilities

Hosts must cancel dinners and remove guests through Common Hours so attendance, notifications, and refund requests are recorded. Canceling a dinner or removing a paid guest authorizes us to initiate the required full refund.

Hosts are responsible for refund funding, resolving pending or failed refunds, and handling other refund requests and payment disputes in Stripe. Stripe’s original processing fees are the host’s responsibility and are not taken from a guest’s full refund.

Ticket settings cannot be changed after publication. For a ticketed dinner, the date is also locked at publication. To change the ticket price, whether tickets are required, or a ticketed dinner’s date, cancel the dinner and create a new one. After the first ticket payment, or while a payment is being processed, changes to the time or location also require canceling and refunding the dinner, then creating a new one.
